Regarding the editorial "Migrant's case is a test of due process. Missouri's senators are failing it." (April 20): This abrogation of the Constitution is intentional. President Donald Trump could turn the pressure on, either carrot or stick, to assure Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia's return.
But having this migrant snatched up by immigration officials and left to rot in a hellhole of a Salvadoran prison is exactly the opposition-numbing publicity that Trump and his minions relish. The goal is to get everyone, including natural born U.S. citizens, wondering if they could be the next to be subject to arbitrary, unilateral, due-process free, irreversible deportation to a hellhole of their own.
Both MAGA Missouri Sens. Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt are complicit in not just their acquiescence to these policies, but with their active support for them.
