JUPITER, Fla. 鈥 When JJ Wetherholt got a swing off on the first pitch he saw Friday against the Mets in his at-bat against 最新杏吧原创 native Devin Williams, all the top Cardinals prospect was looking for was to try and hit a ball to left-center field.
The pitch, an 89.1 mph cutter the two-time All-Star reliever placed up in the strike zone, cut in on the barrel of Wetherholt鈥檚 bat and came off it with a 105.4 mph exit velocity. The fly ball traveled 422 feet to straightaway center field and hit high off the batter鈥檚 eye for a leadoff homer in the fourth inning of the Cardinals鈥 14-3 Grapefruit League loss at Roger Dean Stadium.
