Bret James talks about how he converted four brick walls and a front facade into a wheelchair accessible home for himself and his daughter, who uses a motorized wheelchair. Most existing homes he was looking at had their bedrooms on the second level. If he built from scratch, the bedrooms needed to be on the second floor per code requirements. So, he decided to buy this structure built in 1908 and located in the Botanical Heights neighborhood. The abandoned structure was little more than four brick walls and it had no roof. He worked with UIC, a ��Ӱ�ԭ�� development company with experience in architecture, design, general contracting, and carpentry to create the home. It is user-friendly for his daughter and he feels it is a place where he can age in place, close to the central corridor and downtown ��Ӱ�ԭ��.
