St. Charles County to create its largest park at former duck hunting club
St. Charles County is set to create its largest park on 785 acres of land near the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. Through a partnership of the Missouri Department of Conservation, St. Charles County and the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance, the Henges Wetland Park and Education Center will have an education center with mentored duck hunting, biking, hiking and conservation areas. The education center will also include Parks Department offices, water fowl museum and an information center. No hunting or public access will be allowed in part of the park.

St. Charles County, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance are partnering to develop the new park; the opening date hasn't been set. A 5,000-square-foot education center, not pictured, will anchor a managed public access area that will feature mentored duck hunting, biking, hiking and conservation. The education center near the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers will also include offices for the St. Charles County Parks Department, a waterfowl and heritage museum, and an information center. Part of the land will be deemed an "inviolate refuge" where no hunting or access will be permitted.
