The remodeled kitchen flows into the dining room and fits the Schroeders' entertaining style.
Chris and Nancy bought the curved piece of green granite from a bank that closed and placed it on top of a very old kitchen cabinet that Nancy鈥檚 sister gave them to add this stylish statement to their lower-level bar.
A golden goose, a copper boiler, a Civil War era sword and a grand piano all tell stories from Chris and Nancy鈥檚 families. The mantel d茅cor in the living room, which they call the fireplace room, changes seasonally, but one thing remains constant 鈥 a brass cricket named Jiminy that stays on the hearth.听
Chris had free reign to design his office. He chose to display two of his son鈥檚 guitars and a big painting of Jimi Hendrix. He and Nancy enjoy listening to their collection of vinyl records on his solidly vintage stereo set-up from his college days.听

"This Christmas at Carnegie Hall" 1979 hung in Chris鈥 father鈥檚 house for many years before the Schroeders hung it in their new kitchen. It appears to have a design by Saul Steinberg, who did several Christmas concert pieces for Carnegie Hall.
