ST. LOUIS 鈥 A developer has plans to build a seven-story student housing development near the City Foundry STL entertainment district in Midtown, according to documents filed with the city.
New Jersey-based Aptitude Development wants to build about 200 units with 505 beds for students at 3834 Forest Park Avenue, plans show. The property is northwest of City Foundry STL, the redevelopment of the former Federal-Mogul site that features a food hall, offices and other entertainment options. The City Foundry developer, New + Found, also has plans to build market-rate apartments nearby.
The student housing development also would hug Engine House No. 29 on Vandeventer Avenue.

Crescent Electric Supply Co. currently occupies the property where the development would be built. Aptitude told the city in its application that it has the property under contract to buy from a Crescent Electric affiliate. No sales price was disclosed.
Jared Hutter, principal of Aptitude, said his company is still in the design phases and did not have more information to share.

17th Ward Alderman Tina Pihl submitted a letter of support to city Zoning Administrator Mary Hart Burton and Brooks Goedeker, executive director of the Midtown Redevelopment Corp., a group controlled by 最新杏吧原创 University and SSM Health that oversees redevelopment in the area and can greenlight certain tax incentives for projects.
A public hearing about the development is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday .
