ST. LOUIS — A woman was killed Wednesday morning by a gunman who forced her to drive into the city from Clayton, police said.  Â
×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ and Clayton police were searching for the suspect Wednesday night. Police released few details, citing an ongoing investigation.Â
"This is a case that is very, very active," ×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ police spokesman Mitch McCoy said during a press conference Wednesday evening. "Leads are coming in by the minute."Â
A relative of the woman reported her and a man getting into a vehicle "under suspicious circumstances" about 7 a.m. in the city's Clayshire neighborhood, police Cpl. Jenny Schwartz said in a written statement.Â
The relative who witnessed the encounter followed the woman and man as they drove into ×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´, Schwartz said.
In ×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´, the man shot at the woman's relative near Euclid and Enright avenues but did not hit anyone, said McCoy, ×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ police spokesman.

The man is believed to have held the woman at gunpoint while forcing her to continue to drive through different parts of the city, McCoy said.Â
At 11 a.m., police were called to a shooting in the 4700 block of Greer Avenue and found the woman dead at the scene, McCoy said. The vehicle she had traveled in was also there, he said.Â
McCoy did not release information identifying the suspect or the woman killed, citing an ongoing investigation.Â
