Longtime chairman Bill聽DeWitt Jr. on Wednesday announced that the role would be filled by his son, Bill DeWitt III, who will oversee both baseball and business operations. He comes to the position after 18 years as president of the club.聽聽
Anuk Karunaratne has been named president of business operations, an elevation from his prior role as senior vice president of business operations.
He and Chaim Bloom, the Cardinals鈥 first-year president of baseball operations, will report to DeWitt III under the new structure.聽
DeWitt Jr. will remain as principal owner and chairman.
鈥淭he promotions of Bill and Anuk represent a new era for the Cardinals organization,鈥 he said during Wednesday's news conference at Busch Stadium. 鈥(One) built on a foundation of organization excellence, family stewardship, and a clear vision for the future.鈥
