Took third in Illinois Class 3A high jump with leap of 5-7. Her best jump of the season (5-8) was the second best in the area behind Parkway North’s Amber Alexander, who leaped 5-8¼ .
Horizontal jumps: Lauren White, sr., Edwardsville
Took second in the long jump at the Illinois Class 3A meet with an effort of 18-7¼. She also was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5-6. White tied Holt’s Nataliyah Friar for the best long jump in the area (18-10). She had the fourth-best high jump (5-6).
Throws: Aaliyah Covington, jr., Edwardsville
Took second in the shot put at the Illinois Class 3A meet with a throw of 43-11. She also was fourth in the discus (132-4). Covington had the third-best throw in the area in the shot (43-11) and the sixth-best in the discus (135-6).
Hurdles: Kimberlin Simon, sr., McCluer North
Finished first in the 100-hurdles at the Missouri Class 4 meet in a time of 14.52. She was also fourth in the 300s in 45.42. Simon had the best clocking in the 100s in the area this year (14.33) and the third-best in the 300s (43.29).
Sprints: Prenecia Ponds, sr., Hazelwood Central
Ended up second in the 200 (24.87) at the Missouri Class 4 meet. She took fourth in the 100 (12.24) and was on the winning 800-relay. Ponds had the fourth-best time in the area in the 200 (24.84) and the sixth-best in the 100 (12.24).
Middle distance: Maya Cody, so., Lutheran South
Finished first in the 400 (57.27) at the Missouri Class 3 meet, second in the 100 (12.45), second in the 200 (25.15) and was on the second-place 400-relay (49.71). Cody had the second-best time in the area in the 400 (56.64), and the fifth-best in the 200 (25.07).
Long distance: Jill Whitman, jr., Cor Jesu
Took first in the 3,200 at the Missouri Class 4 meet in 10:51.29, and finished fifth in the 1,600 in 5:03.46. Whitman had the second-best time in the 3,200 in the area (10:51.29), and the third-best time in the area in the 1,600 (4:57).
