Notre Dame football signee ran the area’s second-fastest time in the 100, 10.54 seconds, at the Kansas Relays. Love qualified for the state final in the 100 but did not run the race.
Middle: Ramontay Abram, senior, Belleville West
Ran a personal-best time of 48.68 seconds in the 400 meters to finish second in a state qualifier and then finished fourth in the Class 3A state meet. Won the St. Clair County championship.
Distance: Cole Tatro, senior, Parkway South
Set personal bests in his final two races for the Patriots at the Class 5 state meet, a runner-up showing in the 3,200 in 9:17.30 and a 4:15.61 to finish 10th in the 1600. Tatro’s 3200 time was second-best in the area.
Hurdles: Jacobi Oliphant, junior, SLUH
Ran a personal-best time of 38.32 seconds to finish second in the Class 5 state meet in the 300 hurdles. Also finished seventh at state in the 110 hurdles. Best time of season in 110s was 14.53 at Kansas Relays.
Vertical jumps: Dylan Hawthorne, senior, Ladue
Cleared a personal-best 2 meters (6 feet, 3.25 inches) to finish second at a sectional meet in the high jump before finishing sixth in the Class 4 state meet. Also finished second at state in the 300 hurdles in 39.40 seconds.
Horizontal jumps: Keylan LaGrant, sophomore, Lutheran St. Charles
Leapt a personal-best 13.95 meters (45 feet, 9.25 inches) to finish second in the triple jump in the Class 4 state meet. Also at state, LaGrant was third in the high jump and qualified in the 110 hurdles.
Throws: Iose Epenesa, sophomore, Edwardsville
Sectional-winning discus throw of 54.42 meters (178 feet, 6.5 inches) was the second-best mark in the area. He finished fifth in the Class 3A state meet in the discus and was 20th in shot put.
Multi-event: DeByron Boyd, junior, Madison
Ran on 800 relay that finished second and 400 relay that finished fourth in the Class 1A state meet. Individually, finished eighth in the 200 at state and qualified in the 100.
