COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri men's basketball forward Aidan Shaw will enter the transfer portal after three seasons with the Tigers, he announced Tuesday.Â
Shaw, who was one of coach Dennis Gates' first recruits, was a reserve option for much of this season. He's now the first Mizzou player to depart this offseason.
"Over the past three years, I have had truly remarkable experiences filled with unforgettable moments," Shaw wrote in a post on X. "...Although it is a difficult decision, I believe it is important to prioritize my future."
Shaw's athleticism impressed, but the development of a jumper and handle seemed to stall once he got to MU. He appeared in 28 games this season for the Tigers, averaging under 10 minutes. He only saw 10 or more minutes of game time in two Southeastern Conference games, both in the SEC Tournament when power forward Mark Mitchell was hurt.Â

Factoring in Shaw's departure, Gates will now have four open roster spots to use on transfers. The transfer portal opened Monday and will remain open for entries until April 22.Â
