Summer鈥檚 winding down, but believe it or not, now is actually the perfect time to think about adding a new pool to your backyard.
鈥淭here are a lot of pieces to a pool project, so starting early gives us time to work through planning and design with the customer to give them exactly what they want,鈥 said Mike Angelo, general manager of .聽鈥淔all and winter are some of the best times to start the process because you have so much more time to plan.鈥

鈥淭he timeline all depends on the size and complexity of the project,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he first things to consider are your budget and how you want to ultimately use the space.鈥

When looking for a pool company to work with, Angelo advises customers to ask prospective contractors how long they鈥檝e been in business, how many pools they鈥檝e built and who will be doing the actual on-site work (employees or subcontractors).
鈥淐heck references, ask for photos of completed projects and find out what kind of service they provide after the pool is finished,鈥 he said. 鈥淵ou want to make sure you鈥檙e dealing with a company that鈥檚 going to be around for the long haul.鈥
Pool contractors tend to get very busy in the spring and summer months, and may have much more availability in the fall and winter off-seasons. Be patient. Reputable companies can book up months in advance. If someone says they can build you a pool in a month, that鈥檚 a big red flag to watch out for.
鈥淭he biggest thing I tell people is 鈥 don鈥檛 wait until you鈥檙e ready to swim to start planning,鈥 Angelo said. 鈥淔all is a great time to initiate the conversation. That way, by the time Memorial Day rolls around, you鈥檒l be ready to dive right in.鈥
