Cardinals manager Oli Marmol sported a special shirt Monday ahead of the series opener against the Rangers.

The blue shirt featured multiple photos of Rangers manager Skip Schumaker. Some had the skipper in a suit, others in Rangers gear. They were mashed together in a sort of rock-concert collage with lightning framing the bottom and "SCHUMAKER" crowning the design.听

Through the early innings in their series opener Monday vs. the Rangers, the Cardinals found themselves in spots where they could pounce on two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom.

They had two runners reach base with one out in the first inning against deGrom. A walk from Nolan Gorman and a double from Victor Scott II in the second inning put two runners on base vs. the righty. Then another chance to scratch across a run vs. deGrom presented itself in the fourth when Jimmy Crooks鈥� two-out single put him on first and advanced Bryan Torres to third base.
