Tarlton Corp., a general contracting and construction management firm, is busy redoing the GenAmerica building in downtown ×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ as Laclede Group's headquarters.
Koman Group, the project's developer, brought in Tarlton to do building core and shell preconstruction services and renovation of the 130,000-square-foot, six-story building
Architect Philip Johnson designed the building, at 700 Market Street, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1979, Johnson was the first winner of the Pritzker Prize, which is architecture's Oscar.
The building, vacant since 2004, is set to become Laclede's home next year. The company is moving from the Laclede Gas Building at 720 Olive Street.
Working with Koman and HOK—the architect in the 700 Market project—Tarlton’s work includes demolition and renovation of interior areas for corridor and circulation spaces, renovation of mechanical-electrical-plumbing systems, elevator work, specialty metal refinishing and painting.
