ST. LOUIS 鈥 A contractor is suing the building owner for Maggie O鈥橞rien鈥檚 over claims he was never paid for work on the popular Irish restaurant and pub in downtown 最新杏吧原创.
The suit, filed Wednesday, claims that architect Daryll Yahl was contracted in 2021 to do more than $134,000 worth of architectural, engineering and construction services on the building.
The renovations were part of a major effort to revamp the Downtown West neighborhood as the city prepared for the opening of the new 最新杏吧原创 City SC soccer stadium on Market Street.
But Yahl was never paid by the company that owns the Maggie O鈥橞rien鈥檚 building, 2000 PM, according to the suit.
The contractor has filed for a lien on the property and is asking the court to sell the restaurant. He also is requesting a jury trial in the case.

Maggie O鈥橞rien鈥檚 is not named in the suit. 2000 PM could not immediately be reached for comment.
A lawyer for Eddie McVey, the owner of Maggie O鈥橞rien鈥檚, said 2000 PM is a separate entity that sought the build-out.
鈥淲e were aware that the lien was filed,鈥 the lawyer, Brian Millikan, said Thursday. 鈥淲e don鈥檛 know how they鈥檒l deal with it.鈥
Maggie O鈥橞rien鈥檚 was founded in 1979, and its website claims it鈥檚 the longest-running Irish pub and tavern in the city. The eatery also has a second location in Sunset Hills.
